Unit standard 28522, Describe selected aspects of human development theory in a health or wellbeing setting, is undergoing review because it has passed its scheduled review date.  A reference group was assembled in early October which provided advice resulting in some proposed changes.

The reference group agreed that amendments to the standard should provide a clearer balance between the cultural groups and to remove a requirement for self-reflection on the relevance of human development theory to their health and wellbeing setting.  In this regard, it was noted that the requirement appeared to exceed the level descriptor and may be a barrier for ākonga undertaking the standard in a secondary school context.

The review panel also made recommendations around terminology and resource materials for the Guidance Information, which have been incorporated in the new version.
