Work with us to register micro-credentials!
As part of the new vocational education and training system, Workforce Development Councils (WDCs) ensure that industry needs are met. WDCs, including Toitū te Waiora, provide industries and employers with greater leadership and influence across vocational education.
Education providers need WDCs’ support is required before approval can be sought from NZQA (New Zealand Qualifications Authority) to list a micro-credential on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF).
If you are a provider, you can talk to Toitū te Waiora about your plans early in the process, so that we can give you advice about your planned health, social services, education, or community micro-credential.
Once your micro-credential is developed, you will need to complete the NZQA Micro-credential application form and our cover sheet, before approaching us for a letter of support.
Toitū te Waiora will look at your application to consider the following:
- Does it add value to industry, learners, and community?
- Does it meet a need in the community, education, health, or social services industry?
- Does it address a skills or pathway gap?
It’s important to remember that WDC support for a micro-credential does not guarantee that the NZQA will list it, or that TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) will fund it.
